Coed Bach Park

The woodland paths through Coed Bach are proper quiet - the kind of place where you actually hear birdsong instead of traffic. It's a modest nature reserve just outside Llanelli, nothing flashy, but genuinely worth an hour or two if you're based at one of the nearby touring parks like South Wales Touring Park or River View.

What you get is straightforward: a mix of native woodland with walking trails that wind through trees and open patches where you can spot local birds and the occasional deer if you're lucky. The paths are manageable for families with decent boots, though they can get muddy after rain. There's no visitor centre or gift shop - this is the real thing, not a theme-park version of nature.

Walkers and birdwatchers will find more to occupy them than younger kids, to be honest. Once you've done the circuit - maybe thirty minutes at a proper pace - there's not a huge amount to keep small children entertained. But if you've got teenagers or you're into wildlife, it's the sort of place where you can properly switch off.

Access appears to be free, though I'd recommend checking locally in Llanelli before you visit, as reserve opening times can be vague. Go early morning for the best wildlife spotting, and definitely go in spring or early autumn when the woodland's alive with activity. It slots nicely into a wider Carmarthenshire walk itinerary if you're staying at Gateway Resort or one of the other parks in the area - close enough for a morning outing without eating into your whole day.
