Coed Cefn-du

Dark conifers stretch across the rolling landscape just outside Brynteg, creating one of Anglesey's more substantial woodland walks. Coed Cefn-du translates roughly to 'black ridge wood', and you'll understand why once you're among the dense plantation - sunlight struggles to penetrate the canopy even on bright days.

Walking here feels proper different from the coastal paths most visitors stick to on Anglesey. The forest tracks are well-maintained but can get muddy after rain, so decent boots are essential. You'll find a network of paths suitable for various fitness levels, though don't expect anything too challenging - this is pleasant woodland rambling rather than serious hiking.

Families with older children will get the most from a visit, especially those wanting a break from beaches and tourist crowds. Dog walkers love it too, though keep leads handy as you might encounter mountain bikers on the main trails. Allow at least an hour for a decent wander, longer if you want to explore the outer edges.

The forest works well as a morning activity if you're staying at one of the nearby parks like Glan Gors Holiday Park or Cae Mawr.
