Coed Tregib

Dense woodland stretches across the hillsides just outside Llandeilo, offering proper walking territory away from the crowds. Coed Tregib isn't signposted like the flashier forests - you'll need to look for it on your OS map or GPS.

The trees here are a proper mix of native species, making it lovely for anyone who knows their oak from their ash. Paths wind through without much fanfare, which suits walkers who prefer their forests a bit wild rather than manicured. You won't find visitor centres or waymarked trails, just honest woodland that feels properly Welsh.

Families with young children might find it heavy going - the terrain can be uneven and there aren't any facilities to speak of. But for anyone wanting a decent walk without the car park chaos of better-known spots, it delivers. The views through the canopy toward the Towy Valley are worth the effort on a clear day.

Allow a good couple of hours if you're planning to explore properly. Early morning visits work best when the light filters through the leaves just right. It pairs well with a stay at one of the nearby glamping sites like Gelli Glamping or Ravenscroft Retreats, both within easy reach for those basing themselves in this corner of Carmarthenshire. Not spectacular, but solid walking country that won't disappoint if you're after some peace and decent woodland.
