Corra-bheinn

The walk up Corra-bheinn rewards you with views that make the climb feel entirely justified, especially if you're basing yourself on Mull. At 538 metres, it's not a brute of a hill - manageable for anyone with decent fitness and proper footwear, which you'll absolutely need given how boggy the approach gets.

You'll start from the lower slopes and gain height steadily through moorland scattered with rocks and heather. The summit itself is surprisingly open and exposed, which means the panorama across the Sound of Mull is genuinely striking. On a clear day you can trace the ridge down to Ben More, Mull's highest peak, and the view back towards the mainland is proper worth the effort.

Allow a good three to four hours for the round trip from the base, depending on your pace and how many times you stop to catch your breath and take photographs. This is a day-hike rather than a quick afternoon excursion. The best conditions are spring through to early autumn when the weather's most cooperative, though Mull being Mull, rain is never far away.

Walkers get the most from this - it's straightforward navigation but keeps your legs honest. Families with older children and decent stamina will manage fine. If you're staying at Island Pods or Port nan Gael Campsite nearby, it makes a proper focal point for a day out, and the walk itself feels far less touristy than some of Mull's more famous routes.
