Cors Goch National Nature Reserve

Twenty-seven acres of reed beds and wetland stretch out just inland from Anglesey's coast, creating one of the island's most important wildlife habitats. Cors Goch is proper birdwatcher territory - the boardwalks weave through dense reedbeds where reed warblers chatter and water rails skulk in the shadows.

The wooden walkways keep your feet dry while giving excellent vantage points across the reserve. Spring brings the most drama when migrants arrive, though winter offers its own rewards with flocks of finches and the occasional hen harrier. Families will find it engaging for an hour or so, but this is really one for nature lovers who appreciate subtlety over spectacle.

From the Brynteg area, it's an easy walk or short drive to reach the reserve entrance. The pathways are well-maintained though can get muddy after rain, so proper footwear helps. Early morning visits tend to yield the best wildlife encounters when the birds are most active.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks like Anglesey Sea Breeze Park or Glan Gors Holiday Park, Cors Goch makes a lovely gentle excursion that won't eat up your whole day. Combined with a trip to the coast at Benllech, just a few miles south, it rounds out a proper Anglesey nature day nicely.
