About Corwen Reservoir
It's one of those places that doesn't announce itself. You won't find queues or visitor centres or gift shops trying to flog you a plush moorhen. What you get instead is proper walking country: the water, the hills, some decent birdlife if you're into that sort of thing. On a clear day you can see right across the valley. On a grey day, which is more often, it's moody and atmospheric in a way that feels very North Wales.
Walkers will get the most from it - this is straightforward rambling territory, not a destination you'd drive an hour for on its own. It works brilliantly as a half-day outing from Ruthin, five miles south, or as a break in the leg if you're moving between other walks in the Clwydian range. If you're staying at Clwydian Glamping Pods, it's practically on your doorstep and worth a morning stroll.
There's no charge that I'm aware of, no opening hours to worry about - it's a working reservoir with public access to the path, which is how these things should be. Allow two hours if you want to go round it slowly and actually notice what's here. Kids past the age of "are we there yet" will manage it fine.
