County Ground Extension

The County Ground Extension is basically the overflow car park and practice facilities for Wiltshire County Cricket Club, sat just outside Botswicky Copse. It's not going to set your pulse racing unless you're genuinely keen on cricket - and I mean properly keen. You get a couple of grass pitches, some nets where the club runs coaching sessions, and the kind of purposeful-but-unglamorous setup that regional cricket clubs maintain.

Who should bother? Cricket enthusiasts planning to catch a match at the main ground, or families wanting to watch junior coaching in action during the summer. If your kids play already, seeing county-level coaching might inspire them. Everyone else can safely skip it.

There's no admission charge to wander around the practice areas, though obviously you can't just help yourself to the nets. Allow about 20 minutes if you're poking about, longer if you're watching training. The place runs busiest during cricket season - April through September roughly.

If you're based at Nordic Glamping at Botswicky just down the road, the Ground Extension works as a quick morning activity before heading elsewhere. But it's honestly more useful as a reference point on a map than a destination in itself. The county cricket ground proper might be worth a visit if there's a match on, but the extension? That's for the cricket faithful only.
