Craighead Hill

If you're based at Mount View Caravan Park - which is barely a mile away - this becomes an obvious half-morning outing. Grab the walk before breakfast, be back by lunchtime. The proximity to Biggar means you can tie it in with proper amenities without faffing about. Allow an hour and a half including a breather at the top. Free to access, naturally. Go when the weather's settled; it's exposed up there and a grey day won't add much magic.
