Cringlands Hill

The walk up Cringlands Hill from Clitheroe is a proper little ascent - nothing too demanding, but enough to get the legs working. The summit itself isn't dramatic; you're looking at moorland views across the Ribble Valley rather than Alpine vistas. On a clear day you can pick out the surrounding peaks and get a real sense of the landscape rolling away toward the Forest of Bowland.

It's the kind of walk that works well for families with older kids or anyone after a straightforward hour or so in the open air. You won't find a cafe at the top or viewing platforms - this is proper fell walking. The climb takes maybe thirty to forty minutes depending on fitness, and the descent's quicker. Free to access and open year-round, though conditions can be mucky underfoot after rain.

Cinglands fits neatly into a walking holiday around Clitheroe. You could combine it with other local peaks in the area, or use it as a warm-up before tackling longer routes through the valley. Several holiday parks sit within striking distance - Parkdean Resorts Todber Valley is barely half a mile away, and Holgates Ribble Valley not much further. If you're stopping at one of the glamping spots like Higher Grange or Deerstone, this would work as an easy morning outing before exploring the market town itself.
