Cullion Wood

The woodland walk at Cullion Wood is a proper slice of the Sperrins - ancient oak and birch stretching across a decent chunk of Fermanagh and Omagh's border country. You're not looking at a manicured nature trail here; this is the real thing, with damp ground underfoot and the kind of quiet that makes you realise how few people bother to venture off the main roads around these parts.

It's best for anyone who actually likes woodland - not the Instagram-spot crowd, but walkers who want to see what's genuinely growing and living in these hills. Birdwatchers get a kick out of it too. The walk takes a couple of hours depending on which path you choose, and the terrain is manageable but not flat. Spring and early summer are cracking, when the place comes alive with growth.

Given it's barely half a mile from Gortin Glen Glamping, this makes sense as a morning wander if you're staying in the area. Omagh itself sits close enough for supplies and a decent café if you need one. The reserve links well with the wider Sperrins landscape - you can chain walks together if you're properly keen. There's no visitor centre or facilities to speak of, so come prepared with water and sensible boots. Free access, as far as the area goes, though parking is tight. Worth the detour if you're in the region, not worth driving an hour for on its own.
