Cytiau'r Gwyddelod

The stone circles and cairns at Cytiau'r Gwyddelod sit on the slopes above Caernarfon, commanding views across to Snowdonia. It's a proper archaeological scramble rather than a polished visitor attraction - which is exactly why it's worth the trek. You're looking at Bronze Age remains here, with several stone circles and burial cairns scattered across the hillside, each one telling a different story about who lived and died on these slopes thousands of years ago.

This is absolutely a site for people who like their history unvarnished. Archaeologists and landscape enthusiasts will find genuine intrigue in the layout and positioning of the stones. Timing-wise, go when the weather's clear enough to see the views properly. On a grey day, it's just wet grass and confused hikers squinting at stones. Start from Caernarfon and work uphill - the effort pays off, though it's not a casual stroll.
