About Daeda’s Woods
The woods themselves are unremarkable on paper: mixed broadleaf trees, the usual suspects like oak and beech, paths that wind without any particular drama. But that's rather the point. There's no visitor centre, no interpretation boards telling you what you should be seeing. You're just walking through a wood. Sounds dull until you realize that's increasingly rare.
It's best for walkers and anyone needing to escape the noise for an hour or so. Kids might find it a bit samey if they're expecting adventure playgrounds - it's not that sort of place. Birdwatchers actually get something out of it though. Spring's decent for migrants; autumn sees real activity.
Allow an hour to ninety minutes depending on which paths you take. There's no entrance fee that I'm aware of, and no fixed opening hours - just turn up when you fancy it.
If you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks - Newton Grove is only three miles away - Daeda's Woods makes for a decent morning walk before you settle into the park's own facilities. The Pig Place at 2.2 miles works similarly. Neither destination will blow your mind, but as a break from caravan or lodge life, it does the job without fuss.
