Diggi’s Den

The zoo sits just outside Keighley in West Yorkshire, a proper neighbourhood spot rather than some sprawling animal kingdom. Diggi's Den is small and manageable - you won't need a full day here, which makes it ideal if you're camping nearby at Tip Top or Brown Bank and fancy a couple of hours out of the tent.

It's the sort of place where kids can actually get close to the animals without trudging for miles between enclosures. The setup works well for younger visitors who lose interest quickly, though anyone expecting the scale of Yorkshire Wildlife Park will be disappointed. You're looking at maybe an hour, perhaps ninety minutes if the children are properly engaged.

The zoo keeps mostly small animals and birds - nothing that'll blow your mind if you've done the bigger attractions elsewhere. That said, there's something to be said for a low-key afternoon when the weather's decent. No queues, no chaos, just a quiet wander.

If you're basing yourself at one of the caravan parks dotted round here - and there are several within five miles - Diggi's Den works as a rainy-day filler rather than a headline attraction. The Keighley area itself has more going for it if you're after proper family time: the Bronte connection pulls plenty of visitors, and the surrounding moorland offers decent walks.

Head there mid-week if possible. Weekends can get busier and the whole experience feels less relaxed. Worth a trip if you're in the area, but don't plan your holiday around it.
