Lund's Tower

Standing on the moors above Keighley, Lund's Tower cuts a lonely figure against the Yorkshire sky. It's a stone column, built in the 19th century, and honestly it's the kind of thing that works best as part of a wider walk rather than a destination in itself. You don't go here for the tower alone - you go for the moorland around it, the views back towards the Pennines, and the sense of being properly out in the wilds.

The tower sits roughly three miles from Keighley town centre, so it's accessible for a decent half-day excursion if you're staying at one of the local campsites like Tip Top or Shay Gate Farm. It's free to visit and there's no specific opening hours to worry about - you just turn up. Allow an hour or so including the walk out and back, longer if you want to explore the surrounding moorland properly.

Walkers will get the most from this. It's not a plug-and-play tourist spot with a car park and café - you need to be comfortable with rough terrain and navigation. Families with young children might find it underwhelming unless they're keen on countryside rambles. The real appeal is for anyone wanting to escape the villages and feel the weight of the moors. On a clear day the vantage point is decent enough, though it's hardly dramatic. If you're camping in the area and fancy a straightforward moorland walk, it'll do the job. Just don't expect anything fancy.
