Dino Islands - A golf adventure

Dinosaurs and golf greens shouldn't work together, but on the Isle of Wight they somehow do. Dino Islands is a nine-hole mini golf course where you're hitting balls through jungle-themed obstacles and past fibreglass T-Rexes - the sort of thing that sounds daft until you're actually there with a putter in hand, genuinely enjoying yourself.

It's in Sandown, which means it sits right in the middle of the island's family holiday belt. The course itself is fine for a quick 45 minutes to an hour, though whether that justifies a dedicated trip depends entirely on your crowd. Young kids aged five to ten will get a kick out of it - the dinosaur theming is bright and silly enough to hold their attention. Teenagers will either love the retro cheese of it all or roll their eyes the entire time. Adults without children? You'll probably do one round and call it done.

The nearby parks tell you everything about the area's demographic. Isle of Wight Coastal Park, just 2.2 miles away, is the standout among them with a proper 4.2 rating, making it genuinely worth considering if you're basing yourselves locally. Fairway Holiday Park is practically on the doorstep at under a mile.

Fit it in as a wet-weather plan or a mid-holiday palate cleanser rather than a headline attraction. Sandown itself has the beach and pier to keep you busy, so Dino Islands works best as a thirty-minute diversion while you're already in town.
