Divach Falls

The waterfall tumbles down a rocky gorge with proper force, especially after heavy rain. Divach Falls sits just outside Drumnadrochit, which means you can fit it into a Loch Ness trip without any faffing about with long drives.

It's a short walk from the car park - maybe ten minutes through woodland - and the path is straightforward enough. You'll hear the water before you see it, which is always a good sign. The falls themselves aren't enormous, but they're lovely to watch, particularly where the water crashes into the pool below. The gorge walls frame it nicely for photos, and there's a genuine sense of seclusion despite being so close to the main road.

Walkers will appreciate the quick nature of it - you're not committing to hours here, which is perfect if you're combining visits to Loch Ness Glamping or Loch Ness Shores Camping and Caravanning Club Site. Families with younger children do well with this one because the walk is manageable and the end payoff is immediate. Older kids might find it a bit underwhelming if they're expecting something dramatic, so manage expectations.

The best time is after rain when the water volume is genuinely impressive. Go early in the day if possible - the woodland can feel a bit claustrophobic in poor light, and the path can get slippy when it's wet. Allow a solid hour return if you're not rushing, longer if you want to sit about and actually take it in.
