Drun's Hill

Drun's Hill rises just outside Oxford and gives you proper views across the Oxfordshire countryside without requiring a full expedition. It's not a dramatic summit - the walk takes under an hour from the nearest approach - but it's the sort of spot locals know and tourists miss, which is exactly why it's worth the detour if you're staying at one of the nearby parks like Oxford Glamping or Weston Caravan and Campsite.

The hill itself is accessible and the view rewards the modest climb. You get a sense of the landscape rolling away in all directions, and on a clear day it's a genuinely decent vantage point. Walkers will appreciate it as a straightforward leg-stretcher, and families with young kids won't struggle with the gradient. History buffs might find the area interesting given Oxford's proximity, though Drun's Hill isn't archaeological heavy-hitter territory.

There's no visitor infrastructure to speak of - no café, no visitor centre, no entrance fee. You just turn up and walk. Timing-wise, allow an hour if you're taking it easy, less if you're moving briskly. Early morning or late afternoon suits it best; midday can feel a bit exposed.
