Duvale Wood

Walk into Duvale Wood and you're immediately under a proper canopy - the kind of dense woodland that makes you forget Tiverton's just a couple of miles away. It's a straightforward forest walk, nothing flashy, but genuinely pleasant if you want to stretch your legs without a long drive from wherever you're staying.

The paths are manageable and the woods feel properly wild in places, with decent tree coverage that keeps things cool even on warmer days. You'll find native woodland here, not the manicured stuff - it's the sort of place where walkers actually come to walk rather than pose for photos. If you've got kids, they'll burn energy clambering about, though it's not a destination attraction on its own. More of a solid local option.

There's no visitor centre or facilities that I'm aware of, so bring water and wear proper shoes. Allow an hour or so unless you're keen to explore every turn. The wood's free to access, which is worth knowing.

If you're based at Nirvana Glamping nearby, Duvale makes a decent morning jaunt before heading elsewhere - it's close enough that you won't waste half a day getting there. It fits well into a broader park holiday in the area where you're looking for gentle outdoor time between other activities. Worth the walk? Yes, if you're already in the neighbourhood. Worth driving across Devon for specifically? Probably not.
