You're looking at the bridge itself - a functional crossing that's been here for centuries, handling traffic without fuss - but the real appeal is the riverside. It's the kind of place where you can actually sit down and watch the water move, spot birds working the banks, and let the flatness of East Anglia settle into your bones.

Walkers and birdwatchers get the most from it. Bring binoculars and you'll see why people come back. Families with restless kids might find twenty minutes enough unless there's a canal boat passing - then suddenly everyone's interested. If you're based at one of the caravan parks nearby - Long Island Lake is barely half a mile away, Cuckoo Fen a couple of miles further - this makes an easy afternoon stop.
