The first thing that strikes you about Eion Stewart Fine Art is how seriously it takes itself - and fair enough, because the work deserves it. Located just outside Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire, this is a proper artist's space where you can actually see what someone's been doing in their studio rather than wandering through a corporate white-box gallery.

The focus here is on contemporary fine art, and Stewart's practice has genuine depth to it. You'll spend anywhere from forty minutes to two hours depending on how engaged you get - it's not the kind of place where you rush through and tick a box. The work shifts seasonally, so there's reason to come back if you're in the area more than once.

This works brilliantly if you're camped at the Queen Elizabeth Park Caravan and Motorhome Club just half a mile away, or any of the other sites around Cloak or Upper Crawton. It's a low-pressure cultural stop between coastal walks and countryside drives rather than a day-long event. Stonehaven itself is worth pottering around - proper little harbour town with decent cafes - so you can bundle this in with a morning by the water.

Best suited to anyone who actually cares about art rather than Instagram backdrops. If contemporary work doesn't grab you, you won't pretend it does in an hour.
