Fingle Mill (est 1790)

Just don't expect visitor facilities or lengthy opening times; it's a case of checking locally before you head out.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Barley Meadow is closest at just over a mile away - this works nicely as a quieter alternative to busier attractions. Pair it with a walk along the Exe valley and you've got a proper morning sorted. Worth the detour if you're into that sort of thing; less interesting if you're after big crowds and activities.
