Serious anglers will know this spot well - a proper fishing lake that delivers exactly what it says on the tin. Located just outside Lincoln, this stretch of water attracts dedicated fishermen who appreciate its well-stocked depths and peaceful setting.

The lake itself is fairly sizeable, with plenty of pegs around the banks offering different fishing opportunities throughout the day. Carp dominate the catch here, though you'll also find decent roach and bream if you know where to drop your line. Dawn and dusk sessions tend to be most productive.

Families might find it a bit too specialist for casual visits - this isn't really a place for a gentle afternoon stroll with the kids. But if you've got keen anglers in your group staying at nearby Tattershall Lakes Country Park or Woodhall Spa, it's worth the short drive for a proper fishing session.

Bring your own tackle and bait - facilities are fairly basic here. The banks can get muddy after rain, so decent boots are essential. Most regulars reckon a half-day session gives you the best chance of a good catch without overstaying your welcome.
