Standing at 831 metres, this mountain rewards hikers with proper views across Snowdonia's most famous peaks. You'll spot Snowdon itself from the summit, along with sweeping vistas over the Menai Strait and Anglesey on clear days. The climb from Bethesda takes about two hours each way, following sheep tracks and grassy ridges rather than well-defined paths. It's not technically difficult, but the terrain can be boggy in places and navigation requires decent map skills when mist rolls in. Weather changes fast up here, as it does throughout North Wales.

Serious walkers will appreciate this quieter alternative to the more crowded Snowdonia peaks. Families might find it a bit challenging unless older children are confident on rough ground. The lack of crowds is part of the appeal - you'll often have the summit to yourself, which is rare in this part of Wales. Best tackled in good weather when visibility is decent. From nearby holiday parks like Llanberis Touring Park or Snowdon View Holiday Park, it makes for a rewarding day out that avoids the tourist masses on Snowdon itself. Allow a full day including travel time from Bangor, and pack waterproofs regardless of the morning forecast.
