The woodland around Fourteen Acre Wood sits a short drive inland from Hastings, offering a proper escape from the seafront crowds. It's not a formal visitor attraction with gates and facilities - more a stretch of mixed woodland that locals know well but tourists often miss entirely. The paths wind through established trees, with a decent network of trails that take between 30 minutes and two hours depending on which route you fancy. Underfoot it can get boggy after rain, so decent boots are worth the bother.

Walkers will appreciate it more than most. The canopy work is lovely, and you'll spot common woodland birds if you're paying attention. There's no visitor centre, no gift shop, no crowds.
