Fox Hill

Standing at 103 metres, this is Norfolk's highest natural point - which admittedly isn't saying much in the famously flat county. The walk up through Sheringham Park's woodland is gentle enough for most ages, though you'll barely notice the climb until you reach the summit.

What you get at the top is a proper viewing platform and some genuinely lovely views across the North Norfolk coast. On clear days you can spot Cromer pier and the sea stretching towards the Wash. It's not dramatic like proper hills, but there's something rather satisfying about reaching Norfolk's peak, even if your legs won't know they've done it.

Families based at nearby Kelling Heath Holiday Park will find this an easy morning adventure, though teenagers might roll their eyes at the modest height. The National Trust manages the area well, with clear paths and decent signage. Allow an hour return from the car park, longer if you fancy exploring the wider parkland.

Best visited on crisp winter days when the views stretch furthest. Summer can be a bit muggy under the tree canopy, and you'll share the paths with more visitors. It's free to access and makes a pleasant contrast to all that beach time if you're staying along this stretch of coast between Sheringham and Holt.
