Frankton Pond

The pond sits just outside Rugby, a modest body of water that punches above its weight if you're after a bit of peace. It's the sort of place where you can actually hear yourself think - no crowds, no gift shop, just water and whatever birds happen to be passing through. The banks are accessible enough for a gentle stroll, and the reflections on a calm day are genuinely worth stopping for.

Walkers will find it a decent leg-stretch between the nearby caravan parks - Lairhillock and Eriba Glade are both within a mile, so it's worth factoring in if you're staying locally. Birdwatchers should come armed with binoculars; you'll spot more than the casual visitor ever will. Families with young kids might get half an hour out of it, maybe more if there's bread to throw (check if that's allowed first). It's not a destination in itself, but it's exactly the sort of thing that makes a caravan holiday more rounded - somewhere to decompress without needing to plan too hard.

There's no admission charge as far as I can tell, and no specific opening hours to worry about. Go early morning or late afternoon for the best light and the fewest people. In truth, if you're within spitting distance at Tinywood Homes further south, you could do worse than knowing this place exists. It's proper local, the way ponds should be.
