Front Covert

A proper woodland walk through Somerset countryside, Front Covert sits just outside Taunton and makes for a straightforward afternoon sortie if you're based at one of the nearby caravan parks. The forest itself is unremarkable by grand standards - it's not dramatic, not particularly vast, just pleasant mixed woodland where you can stretch your legs without faffing about with complicated maps.

What you get is quiet. No signposted "attractions", no cafes, no visitor centre pushing merchandise. Just trees, paths, and the chance to actually hear birds if you're lucky.
