Walkers and anyone after a straightforward forest ramble will get proper value from it. Families with younger kids might find it a bit samey after 45 minutes, unless they're the type who enjoy spotting birds and hunting for fallen branches.

Access appears to be free, though information is thin on the ground. The walk works brilliantly as part of a broader Aberdeenshire itinerary - pair it with coastal walks near Stonehaven or use it as a half-day detour if you're based at Cloak Caravan Park, just five miles south.
