About Gameslack Plantation
This is a walk-through forest, nothing more, nothing less. You come here to be among the trees, to listen to whatever birds are about, maybe spot the occasional squirrel if you're lucky. The canopy is dense enough that it feels quiet even when it's not, which is quite nice. In autumn the light filters through in that particular golden way, and in spring you get a fair bit of green coming through at once.
It's best suited to anyone after a straightforward woodland stroll without the faffing about - walkers, really, or families with kids old enough to manage a proper walk. There's no café, no play equipment, no visitor centre. You just walk among the trees. Bring a decent pair of shoes though; it can get boggy in patches after rain.
If you're based at Seaways Glamping nearby, this makes a decent half-hour diversion, especially if weather's being kind. Don't expect to spend your whole morning here, but it's a proper place to stretch your legs and breathe a bit deeper than usual.
