Garn Prys

The walk up Garn Prys from Betws-y-Coed isn't long, but it's steep enough to get the blood pumping. You're looking at a proper little peak - nothing massive in the Snowdonia scheme of things, but the effort-to-reward ratio is genuinely decent. From the top, the views across the Conwy Valley open up nicely, and on a clear day you can pick out Snowdon itself lurking away to the west.

It's the sort of walk that works well for families with older kids or keen walkers who don't want to commit to a full day in the hills. Allow an hour and a half to two hours return, depending on fitness. The path is straightforward enough, though it can get boggy after rain - proper fell boots wouldn't go amiss.

You'll want to start early if you're going in summer, as Betws-y-Coed gets rammed with tourists. Early morning or late afternoon is far better. The walk makes a solid half-day out if you're staying at one of the glamping sites nearby - Porth Eryri is just over two miles away, Snowdonia Glamping Holidays a touch further. Pair it with a wander round Betws-y-Coed itself afterwards, grab a decent lunch, and you've got a proper morning sorted.

Not a destination on its own, but absolutely worth the detour if you're in the area for a few days exploring Snowdonia.
