About Gartmorn Dam Country Park
Walkers will find the most to like here. The circuit around the water takes a couple of hours at a leisurely pace, and the paths are well-maintained without being dull. Birdwatchers should come during spring or autumn migration - the variety picks up noticeably then. Families with younger kids might get restless if the birds aren't cooperating, but there's enough space for them to run about without driving you mad.
It's free, which is refreshing. No visitor centre, no gift shop nonsense. Just a country park that does what it says on the tin. Close enough to Clackmannan if you need supplies, but far enough away to feel removed from things.
If you're based at Highland Gateway Glamping a couple of miles down the road, or any of the other caravan parks scattered nearby, this works as a solid half-day circuit. On its own it's not a destination - you won't travel across Scotland for it. As part of a wider Fife stay though, it's well worth the visit. Clear skies bring out the best in it.
