Grange Hill

The walk up Grange Hill from Cheltenham is one of those proper little climbs that rewards you without asking too much of your legs. It's not a mountain - more a steep hill that gives you a real sense of achievement once you're at the top, looking back across the town and towards the Cotswolds beyond.

There's something quite satisfying about it. The views from the summit are genuinely good, especially on a clear day when you can pick out the landscape rolling away in all directions. It's the kind of spot where you actually feel you've earned a sit-down and a flask of tea rather than just wandered around on the flat.

Walkers will find this worth their time - allow a couple of hours for the round trip depending on your pace and how long you linger at the top. Families with older kids will get on fine with it; younger ones might find the gradient a bit of a slog. It's not technical terrain, just a good honest hill walk.

If you're based at Bourton-on-the-Water Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite, Grange Hill makes an excellent morning outing - it's only 2.6 miles away and gets you moving before the day properly starts. Cotswolds Meadow Glamping is a touch further at 4.5 miles but equally accessible. Both give you decent bases for exploring this part of Gloucestershire, and Grange Hill fits neatly into a wider walking itinerary around Cheltenham.
