Gravesend Wall

Standing atop this limestone cliff face, you'll understand why locals call it one of Gower's finest viewpoints. The wall itself is actually a remnant of an old quarry face that's weathered into a natural viewing platform, offering sweeping views across Three Cliffs Bay and the Bristol Channel beyond.

Walkers will love the approach - it's a proper scramble up from the coastal path, requiring decent boots and a head for heights. Not one for pushchairs or anyone with mobility issues, but the reward is worth the effort. On clear days, you can spot Devon's coastline shimmering in the distance.

Families with older children who don't mind a bit of adventure will find this spot rewarding, though keep little ones well back from the edge. The drop is significant and there are no safety barriers - this is wild Gower at its most dramatic.

Allow about an hour for the walk up and back down, longer if you're combining it with the Three Cliffs Bay beach walk below. Early morning or late afternoon light makes for the best photography, and you'll often have the place to yourself outside summer weekends. It's free to access, naturally, being part of the open coastline. Those staying at nearby Three Cliffs Bay Holiday Park or Nicholaston Farm have this spectacular viewpoint right on their doorstep.
