Xscape Castleford is an indoor adventure park that takes itself seriously - think trampolines, climbing walls, laser tag, and a snow slope all under one roof. It's the sort of place where you can actually tire out hyperactive kids on a rainy Yorkshire afternoon, which frankly feels like a minor miracle.

The Gravity Active section is their draw - a proper climbing and agility course with various difficulty levels. You'll spend anything from two to four hours here depending on how many times your children demand "one more go". The trampoline park is separate and charges extra, but it's genuinely well-maintained, which matters when you're about to let small humans bounce around.

Situated between Wakefield and Castleford, it's not somewhere you'd plan a whole trip around, but it absolutely earns its place on a park holiday itinerary. If you're staying at Nostell Priory Holiday Park - just four miles away - you could easily pop over here for a half-day when the weather turns. The park itself is free to look round, though activities are paid separately; expect it to be fairly pricey for a family session.

Best for families with kids aged five to fifteen. Teenagers might find it a bit tame unless they're into the competitive climbing. Go midweek if you can - weekends get rammed with school groups. Not glamorous, but genuinely useful when you need an indoor option with actual substance to it.
