Great Molunan

The stretch of sand at Great Molunan doesn't announce itself loudly, which is rather the point. It's a proper Cornish beach - all dramatic cliffs, golden sand, and the sort of Atlantic wind that catches you mid-stride. You'll find rockpools here when the tide's out, the kind where kids can lose a solid hour hunting for crabs and anemones without complaining once.

Walking the beach takes about twenty minutes end to end, depending on how often you stop to look at things. The cliffs towering above are worth the squint upwards - they're high enough to feel properly remote, but the beach itself is accessible without any scrambling nonsense. It works brilliantly as a morning swim spot if you're an early riser; afternoons get busier once folk from Truro realize it's there.

This isn't a destination beach where you'll spend the entire day. It's a cracking spot to tack onto a wider exploring mission - an hour's worth, maybe two if you've brought a picnic. Families with younger children do well here because the waves are gentler than you'd expect, and the rockpools keep everyone occupied while you drink thermos coffee and pretend you're not freezing.

If you're staying at Trethem Mill Touring Park just three miles away, it's practically on your doorstep. Even from Carnon Downs Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite further out, it's an easy drive for a morning visit. Bring a towel you don't mind getting sand in.
