The walk onto Greena Moor takes you inland from Bude's coastal sprawl into proper moorland - gorse, heather, and the kind of open space that reminds you why people bother with Cornwall in the first place. It's genuinely wild without being remote, which makes it ideal for families who want their kids burning off energy without needing mountaineering skills.

You get expansive views across the moorland, patches of bog, and a real sense of walking somewhere untamed. The reserve is free and there's no faffing about with gates or opening hours - you simply show up. That said, wear decent boots. The ground can be boggy even days after rain, and the paths aren't exactly manicured.

Allow a couple of hours if you're taking your time, longer if you're keen on spotting birds or photographing the landscape. Spring and early summer are lovely - the gorse flowers bright yellow - but autumn has its own appeal with the heather in bloom.

From Bude itself, you're minutes away. It slots perfectly into a park-based holiday - Pencuke Farm's shepherd's huts are four miles down the road and get exceptional reviews, making it a solid base for exploring both coastal walks and inland spots like this. Even if you're staying at the Camping and Caravanning Club site, it's an easy drive to burn an afternoon here. It's not spectacular or Instagram-worthy, but it's the sort of place that sticks with you - quiet, proper moor, no crowds.
