About Greystone Ledge
The ledge itself is a dramatic outcrop with views that sweep across the South Hams countryside and down towards the coast. On a clear day - and you really do need clear - you can see for miles. The vantage point isn't just about the distance either. There's something about standing on actual rock with proper drops alongside that makes you feel properly out there, even though you're just a few miles from civilisation.
Walkers will get the most from this one, especially those who don't mind a bit of scramble and don't mind their legs burning on the descent. Kids aged eight and up could manage it if they're keen hikers, but younger ones might find the climb tedious and the reward abstract. There's no cafe, no facilities, just the view and the wind and very probably some sheep.
If you're based at Karrageen or South Devon Camping Lower Terawhiti Farm - both just a stone's throw away - this makes an excellent half-day loop. The free admission is obvious once you realise it's just a hillside. Allow two hours return if you're moving steadily. The real win is going early, before other walkers arrive, when the whole thing feels rather like you've discovered it yourself.
