Harbwr Pwllheli Harbour

The working harbour at Pwllheli is one of those proper Welsh coastal spots that doesn't need much fanfare to justify a visit. Fishing boats still come and go, yachts bob about on their moorings, and you've got the Llyn Peninsula stretching out behind you - it's a genuinely lived-in place rather than a tourist attraction dressed up as one.

You can wander the quays for free, watch the boats, grab a coffee from one of the small cafes nearby, and spend a good hour just pottering about. The views back towards the town are decent enough, particularly in afternoon light. It's not a destination in itself - you're not going to travel across Wales for this - but as part of a coastal walk or a morning stroll before heading to one of the nearby parks, it works well.

Families with young children get the most from it, honestly. There's water to look at, boats to point at, and enough space to let them run about safely without worrying they'll wander off a cliff. Walkers might use it as a starting point for the coastal path. History types will find less to grip them here than in other parts of Gwynedd.

If you're staying at Gimblet Rock or Haven Hafan y Môr, the harbour is barely a drive away. Pop down before breakfast or at the end of the day when the light's turning golden. Free parking nearby, though it gets busy in summer. Allow an hour maximum unless you're seriously into boats.
