Harlow Town Park

The Town Park in Harlow is one of those places that sneaks up on you. Walking in from the edge of town, you'll find yourself in proper countryside - grassland, woodland, and water that actually feels removed from the urban sprawl behind you. It's a nature reserve, so expect to see birds, the odd fox if you're lucky, and plenty of space to actually breathe.

If you're staying at Toad Abode or The Wild Retreat at Redricks Lake - both within a few miles - this makes for a genuinely free morning or afternoon out. It won't blow your mind, but it's exactly what you want from a local nature spot: quiet, genuine, and miles better than a sit-down in town.
