Hen Parc Wood

The woodland itself is modest in size, which means you won't get lost for hours, but there's enough here for a decent hour-long ramble if you're staying at one of the nearby parks like Blackhills Leisure or Gowerton Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite.

The paths wind through typical South Welsh woodland - a mix of deciduous trees that look particularly good in autumn when the place has proper colour. It's the kind of spot where dog walkers and families wanting to burn off half an hour find what they need without the crowds you'd get at bigger forest attractions. Walkers will find it worthwhile as part of a broader exploration of the Gower Peninsula area - Three Cliffs Bay Holiday Park and Gateway Resort are close enough that you could tackle this before or after hitting bigger attractions. It won't blow your mind, but it's free, accessible, and genuinely useful if you're based locally for a week. Better for adults after a bit of peace than families after thrills. Go when the ground isn't waterlogged - Welsh woodland can turn boggy fast.
