A proper woodland walk just outside Oxford, Higgins's Copse feels like the kind of place locals know about but tourists miss entirely. It's small - you're not looking at sprawling acreage here - but the trees are thick enough that you genuinely escape the city noise within minutes.

The copse works as a decent leg-stretcher if you're staying at either Hardwick Parks or Lincoln Farm Park Partnership nearby. Nothing dramatic happens here. No viewpoints, no heritage plaques, just quiet woodland with a network of paths you can pick your way through. It's the sort of place where you notice things - moss on north-facing trunks, the particular smell of damp leaf litter in autumn, birdsong that actually registers because there's no traffic.
