About Highfield Plantation
It's the sort of place that appeals most to walkers and nature spotters who want actual woodland rather than a visitor centre and a gift shop. Families with older kids will find it engaging - there's genuine discovery here, bird life, the occasional deer if you're quiet about it - but little ones expecting facilities will be disappointed. Bring a map and good boots; it's not manicured.
The plantation works brilliantly as part of a wider Shropshire walking break. Stay at Lower Hill Campsite, five or so miles away, and you've got access to proper forest walks without the National Trust crowds. There's no charge that I can find, and no fixed opening hours - it's woodland, so you're in when daylight is decent. Allow two to three hours for a good explore, longer if you're into serious rambling. Worth the drive from Bridgnorth, absolutely worth the time once you're here.
