Holmebrook Valley Park

The valley floor opens up properly once you round the bend past Dronfield - suddenly you've got water, woodland, and actual space to breathe. Holmebrook Valley Park is one of those places that rewards a proper wander rather than a quick tick-box visit. The main draw is the valley itself: a strip of green that runs through working countryside, with the brook doing its thing alongside footpaths that loop back on themselves in satisfying ways.

You get a real mix here. There's a decent stretch of water for looking at (no swimming, mind), trees if you want shade, and the kind of open grassland where families can let kids loose without worrying they'll vanish into the undergrowth. Dog walkers get a proper outing from it - the paths are clear and varied enough that it doesn't feel like you're going in circles. The whole thing takes between an hour and ninety minutes depending on your pace and whether you stop to actually notice things.

If you're camped at Riverside Valley or one of the other glamping spots within a couple of miles, this makes an easy morning stroll or afternoon option. It's not spectacular - no views that'll take your breath away, no dramatic drops - but it's genuinely pleasant and beats being stuck on the caravan site all day. Spring and early summer work best: the paths dry out properly and you're not trudging through mud. Go mid-week if you can; weekends pull decent crowds.
