Inside, there's decent medieval craftsmanship to appreciate: the architecture speaks properly of its time, and if you're into that sort of thing, the church rewards a proper look around. It's the type of spot history enthusiasts will want to spend twenty minutes with, rather than just five. Families passing through will find it peaceful, though children might not linger unless they're genuinely interested in old buildings.

Bearsted's a sensible base if you're staying at one of the caravan parks nearby - the Caravan and Motorhome Club site is barely over a mile away, so it works as a low-key Sunday morning wander between breakfast and heading out for the day. The village itself has that proper Kent feel: nothing fancy, but pleasant enough for a quick explore.

Admission should be free - most parish churches are - but do check before turning up, particularly if you're making it a special trip from Maidstone town centre. The real value here is as part of a gentle village ramble rather than a destination unto itself. Worth an hour's detour if you're local or passing through, but not worth planning your entire park holiday around.
