Horse Dale View Bench

The bench itself is nothing fancy - just a wooden seat wedged into the hillside above Driffield. But the view it commands across Horse Dale is genuinely brilliant, especially on a clear day when you can see right across the valley in that particular crisp way Yorkshire light has.

It's a proper walkers' spot, the kind of place where you'd pause mid-stride and realise why you bothered leaving the car park. You're looking down at open farmland rolling away, golden-green depending on the season, with genuine peace and quiet. No crowds fighting for position. No facilities, either - just grass, sky, and the bench.

Getting here requires a bit of effort. There's no road access or anything daft like that; you walk up from the valley bottom or approach from nearby paths. Maybe 20 minutes of gentle gradient, nothing that would trouble a reasonably fit person. Families with young kids might find it a bit of a trek for what amounts to a view and a rest, but older children who've got some stamina would manage it fine.

If you're staying at Seaways Glamping nearby, this fits perfectly into a longer walk round the area. Pop over for an hour, take a flask of tea, sit on the bench, reset your head. It's not something you'd plan your entire Yorkshire holiday around, but as a morning's diversion when you're in Driffield? Absolutely worth the walk.
