The woods around Worksop offer proper forest walking, and Hundred Acre Wood delivers exactly that - a straightforward stretch of trees and paths without any faffing about. It's the sort of place where you can actually breathe properly, away from the carpark crowds that plague better-known attractions. The trees are decent sized, the paths are manageable, and on a quiet morning you might see nothing but woodland and the occasional dog walker.

Families with younger kids will get a solid hour or so of exploring before the novelty wears off. Older walkers and anyone after a bit of peace will find it genuinely worthwhile. There's nothing fancy here - no visitor centre, no cafe, no Instagram moments - which is precisely why it works. You're paying attention to the actual forest rather than queuing for anything.

The real win is how close it sits to Clumber Park, just a few miles south. If you're staying at one of the caravan sites dotted around - Clumber Park itself has options ranging from the Caravan and Motorhome Club spot to the Lodges - you can easily combine the two. Walk Hundred Acre Wood in the morning, then head over to Clumber for a proper afternoon. Riverside Caravan Park is nearer if you're planning to base yourself closer to Worksop itself.

Go early in the day if you can. The light's better, it's quieter, and you won't be fighting for parking spaces. Bring decent boots - woodland ground stays damp even when everywhere else has dried out.
