Kilkenny Lane Country Park

The lane itself is the main event here - a proper country walk through Oxfordshire countryside just outside Witney, where the hedgerows close in on either side and you feel properly removed from the main roads. It's the kind of spot where you can actually hear birdsong without competing traffic noise, which is rarer than it should be around these parts.

The park works best for walkers after a bit of peaceful wandering rather than a dramatic landmark moment. There's no grand viewpoint or ruins to photograph - it's about the experience of being somewhere quiet and green. Families with younger children might find it a touch dull after twenty minutes unless they're into spotting wildlife or collecting leaves, but it's excellent for a gentle family ramble between other Oxfordshire attractions.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Grove Farm and Burford are both within spitting distance - this is exactly the kind of free walk you'd slot into a lazy afternoon. There's no obvious entrance fee or restricted access, which keeps things refreshingly simple. Allow an hour or two depending on how far you fancy wandering.

The real value is as part of a broader Cotswolds park holiday. On its own, it's pleasant enough but nothing that'll make the trip worthwhile. Combine it with walks around Witney itself and you've got something worthwhile. Go when you need quiet rather than spectacle.
