King's Wood

Ancient oaks tower overhead as you step into one of Worcestershire's most accessible patches of proper woodland. King's Wood sprawls across rolling countryside just outside Droitwich, offering a proper escape from the spa town's busy streets without requiring serious hiking boots or military-grade navigation skills.

Families will find this place brilliant for letting the kids run wild - there's enough space for proper games of hide-and-seek among the trees, and the paths are gentle enough for pushchairs on most routes. Dog walkers get their money's worth here too, with plenty of sniffing opportunities and room to let well-behaved pups off the lead.

The woodland changes character with the seasons. Spring brings that fresh green canopy and a carpet of bluebells that's genuinely lovely, while autumn delivers the full works - russets, golds, and that satisfying crunch underfoot. Allow a good hour for a proper wander, though you could easily spend half a day here if you pack a picnic.

Staying at one of the nearby parks like Lenchford Meadow or Twin Oaks Caravan & Camping puts you within easy striking distance.
