The reserve spans woodland and grassland, threading through an area that supports everything from birds to insects, though what you actually spot depends entirely on the season and your patience. Walkers get the most from it - there are paths that let you wander without feeling herded along a marked trail, and the quietness is genuinely refreshing after a day at busier attractions. Children tend to enjoy it for an hour or so, less if they're after something more structured. History-minded visitors won't find much to grab onto here, which is fine - this place is about observing nature rather than reading about the past.
