Langunnett Woods sits just inland from Lerryn, a proper Cornish woodland that doesn't announce itself loudly but rewards a quiet morning walk. This is mixed forest - ancient trees, a decent canopy, the kind of place where you actually notice the light changing through the day. There are trails winding through, though they're not signposted to death, which is either refreshing or mildly annoying depending on your temperament.

It's a solid choice if you're based at one of the holiday parks nearby - Tremeer Farm's yurts are closest at under three miles, and Par Sands or Tencreek if you're after something more conventional. The woods themselves won't eat up an entire day. Give it an hour to ninety minutes if you like a gentle potter, longer if you're the type who stops to identify birds or spot fungi. Bring a proper map or download offline tracks beforehand, because phone signal is patchy.

Walkers will find it worthwhile, particularly in autumn when the light's golden and you're not sweating through your shirt. Kids will tolerate it for a while - depends how old and how keen on trees they are, really. It's the sort of place you'd slot into a broader day out exploring the river at Lerryn or pushing on towards the coast at Par. Free to access, which doesn't hurt. Nothing fancy, but genuine and quiet - there's value in that.
